Image Backup
Image backup is the process of low level hard drive copying with no regard to the file system of a given computer. The image copy includes not only user data, but system data as well, thus it allows restoring the operating system of a computer to a working state. However, the mere copying of the hard drive contents does not guarantee successful restoration of the operating system. Additionally, you need to copy the boot information and create a boot CD.
