Email backup via POP3

Novosoft Office Backup allows backing up data directly from the mail server instead of waiting for the messages to be downloaded to your computer.

You can use Novosoft Office Backup to back up your mail from the server. You can do it in case you don't have an email client installed on you home PC or if you are traveling and have no possibility to back up messages from your mail client.

To back up your mail with the help of Novosoft Office Backup, you don't even have to download the web page of your mail service. Instead, you can use the Email backup feature available in Office Backup to retrieve your messages from the mail server.

When you add data for backup in Step 2 of the backup task creation, (see online manual for details) you can select the Email messages item from the Add list. Office Backup will automatically retrieve your mail messages from the server and back them up to the storage media that you specify. The backed up messages have an eml extension which allows them to be opened with any email client, so you will be able to read your mail after it has been backed up.

Office Backup uses POP3 protocol to back up mail from the mail server. This protocol does not allow restoring mail messages back to the server and you cannot choose which folders to back up. You can back up only the incoming messages stored on your mail server. However, we are planning to introduce email backup via IMAP soon. Unlike POP3, IMAP allows both selection of folders and the restore of messages back to the mail server.
