Hard Drive Backup

To back up your hard drive, do the following

  1. Launch Novosoft Office Backup
  2. Go to the File menu
  3. Click New Task
  4. Select Backup Task and click Next
  5. Click the Add button
  6. Select Disk Image from the list

You will see your hard drive in the File view box at step to 'What to back up'. To see the partitions of your hard drive click 'plus'

Select the partitions that you want to include in the backup set by adding or removing check marks next to them.

Important Note: If you do the backup of one or several partitions of your hard drive (but not the entire hard drive), it is important that you include the Partition Table to the backup set for the System to configure the partitioning of your hard drive when you do the restore. To include the Partition Table, check the box next to it.

After your have added your hard drive (or partitions of the hard drive) to the backup set, continue with the backup task creation in a regular way. For details, see the User Manual.

Before you back up

Before you do image backup, make sure that the Temporary Folder is not located on the same hard drive or hard drive partition that you back up. To do this, you need to go to the Settings menu of Novosoft Office Backup.

  1. Click File menu
  2. Click Settings
  3. Select General Settings

If the Temporary Folder is located on the partition that you are going to back up, change the directory using the 'Browse' button.

Where to back up

You can back up your hard drive to any storage media available in Novosoft Office Backup such as CD, DVD, HD DVD, Blu-ray, FTP/SFTP, USB flash drive, external drives.

Important Note:

  1. If you back up a partition of your hard drive, you must back it up to another partition of your hard drive, but NOT to the same one!
  2. Before you back up, you must close all programs and applications!
