Automatic data backup to DVD, CD, USB, HD DVD, Blu-ray, FTP or SFTP
Incremental backup is one of the two most common backup types, the other being full backup. The main difference between full and incremental backup is that incremental backup copies only new and changed files of the selected data array, while full backup does not differentiate backup files and copies all information in full.
The choice between full and incremental backup usually depends on how large is the selected data array. If it is too large, incremental backup is normally preferred as it backs up new and modified files only.
Because incremental backup is smaller it requires less storage space and takes less time to perform. However, incremental backup alone cannot guarantee that all the information thus copied will be recoverable. The data recovery will also require retrieving full backup, so full backup is normally used alongside incremental backup.
The two types combined create a backup rotation plan, where the first backup is usually full backup which is followed by a number of incremental backups.
Novosoft Office Backup allows performing incremental backup with timestamps and versions, which allows you to save several versions of the same file in order to keep track of all file modifications and recover the needed file version when necessary.
